CCC Back to School Kickoff, 2023
On August 7, 2023 CCC families, students, board members, and staff gathered to celebrate the beginning of the school year, and to share a meal together while distributing gift cards to help with the cost of annual school supplies.
Gore’s Smokeout Barbecue was there a second year in a row to serve delicious meals to all attendees, and Holy Spirit Catholic Church donated gift cards to help each student at CCC cover the cost of their school supplies for the year. This year was a record-breaking amount in gift cards donated to CCC families, and we are so thankful to Holy Spirit for their generous support!
Despite the rain, we served around 150 guests. Thanks to everyone who made this event possible, and everyone who came out to enjoy our CCC community before the school year started!
Summer, 2023
In lieu of our annual Summer Academic Program this year, we hosted two large All-Family Meetings in June and July. We shared pizza, distributed brand-new, age-appropriate books to all students in our program, and reviewed the CCC Family Handbook and Contract for the upcoming school year. Students were also given a Summer Reading Bingo Board to use for their summer reading activities, and received prizes if they completed the board.
It is always nice to gather with all of our families and share food and fellowship together! We had so much fun and we were so glad to see everyone all together.
CCC Achievement Celebration, 2023
On May 23, 2023 CCC invited all families and friends to celebrate our graduating 8th graders and high school seniors. This is always a favorite annual tradition of ours!
We were so happy to celebrate three graduating seniors, from Mercy Academy and Presentation Academy, and send seven 8th graders off to high school! We are excited for what’s to come for our 2023 graduates!
CCC Spring Family Growth Workshops, 2023
In February, CCC families met with CCC Social Emotional Learning Coordinator Katrina Grunzinger and guest presenter Corey Lockhart for a Family Growth Workshop from the Earth and Spirit Center on Difficult Conversations. Corey reviewed different challenges we all have during difficult conversations, and ways to approach and respond to different types of challenges. There was much rich discussion, and we all learned a lot!
In April, Katrina led a workshop on Bullying. Time was spent discussing the causes of bullying, and tactics that students and parents can use to counteract bullying behavior in their child, and to address bullying when their child is a victim. It was a valuable evening that helped many of our parents navigate situations they face on a regular basis.
Family Growth Workshops are held quarterly at CCC, and are an opportunity for families to connect and learn about social emotional issues in their environment.
CCC Christmas Celebration, 2022
On Tuesday evening, December 6, CCC families gathered at CCC to celebrate the holiday season together and have some fun with our large CCC community.
We hosted a hot chocolate bar, games, crafts, and cookie decorating for our CCC families, and distributed gifts generously donated, arranged, and delivered by the Trinity High School community.
Thank you to the Trinity High School community, and to the group of Trinity volunteers who helped run all of the stations at our celebration. It was so fun watching everyone interact and have fun, and we are wishing our entire CCC community a very merry Christmas!
CCC Thanksgiving Prayer Service and Meal, 2022
On Tuesday evening, November 15, CCC families gathered at Good Shepherd Catholic Church for a Thanksgiving prayer service led by students from Sacred Heart Academy. We thanked God for our blessings and gifts, and celebrated this season of gratitude and giving.
Afterward, we moved nextdoor to share a meal together. A full Thanksgiving meal was served while families ate together and celebrated our shared community at CCC.
Thank you to the Catholic Education Foundation for sponsoring our annual Thanksgiving meal, and to Sacred Heart Academy for planning and leading the prayer service. It was a wonderful night full of community and celebration at CCC.
CCC Fall Family Growth Workshops, 2022
In September, CCC families met with CCC Social Emotional Learning Coordinator Katrina Grunzinger for a Family Growth Workshop on technology and how to manage it in the household. Families reviewed various ways to manage technology, and workshopped different techniques and solutions for problems that might arise.
In October, Annette Turner, Executive Director of the Archdiocese Office of Multicultural Ministry, led a workshop on Diversity in Community, and shared the resources that her office offers to families across Louisville.
Family Growth Workshops are held quarterly at CCC, and are an opportunity for families to connect and learn about social emotional issues in their environment.
CCC Back to School Kickoff, 2022
On August 2, 2022 CCC families, students, board members, and staff gathered outdoors to celebrate the beginning of the school year, and to share a meal together while distributing gift cards to help with the cost of annual school supplies.
Gore’s Smokeout Barbecue food truck was there to serve delicious meals to all attendees, and Holy Spirit Catholic Church donated gift cards to help each student at CCC cover the cost of their school supplies for the year.
We had lovely summer weather, and served 155 meals. Thanks to everyone who made this event possible, and everyone who came out to enjoy our CCC community before the school year started!
CCC Summer Academic Program, 2022
In June and July of 2022, we were able to gather over 60 CCC students over two six-day sessions in June and July for our annual Summer Academic Program. The Summer Academic Program is for students entering grades 1-8, and is designed to help them review key concepts from previous grade levels in order to prevent summer backslide and prepare them for the upcoming school year.
We gathered with students old and new, and students were able to make new friends, nurture existing relationships, and learn from our experienced volunteer teachers while having fun!
We are so thankful for the staff and volunteers who spent so much time planning and implementing curriculum and activities for the students, and everyone who gave of their time, talents, and treasures for a successful program!
CCC Achievement Celebration, 2022
On April 26, 2022 CCC invited all families and friends to celebrate our graduating 8th graders and high school seniors. It was the first time we have been able to do this in-person since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
We were so happy to gather with everyone and celebrate the successes of our graduates, and the younger CCC students were able to see what their future could look like as they grow up and continue their Catholic education.
Good Shepherd hosted with prayers, students led readings, and the 2022 recipients of the Koch Scholarship were announced. It was a wonderful evening full of hugs, celebration, and hope for the future.
Community Catholic Center Annual Spring Reception: 2022
On April 21, 2022 Community Catholic Center held its annual Spring Reception at the rectory of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Over 100 guests were in attendance as we celebrated another successful year at Community Catholic Center, and looked to the future as we worked to raise our tuition costs for the upcoming 22-23 school year.
Our keynote speaker for the evening was CCC alum Fernando Maggard. Fernando is a 2021 graduate of Saint Xavier High School, and is currently in his second year at Bellarmine University. It was such a joy to be able to gather with supporters and celebrate Community Catholic Center!
CCC Easter 2022
Every year, we have a group of angels who generously donate family “Easter baskets” to our CCC families. Each family receives a large basket full of necessities and fun things for the whole family. Our CCC families are so grateful for this group of supporters who show love to them through generosity and hard work!
CCC Christmas 2021
Trinity High School remains a significant partner for us in helping to make Christmas special for our CCC families. Trinity does a gift drive after Thanksgiving, and plays Santa by providing gifts for all of our CCC students and their siblings.
This year, we sent an ornament kit home with each family in November. Each child in each family decorated an ornament, and when they came to hang it on our CCC tree in the office, they were able to pick up a special bag of gifts that Santa had left for them!
We were so impressed with all of the special artwork that our CCC students created to help decorate our CCC tree! It made Christmas special for everybody.
